Scheduled condition checks on SINAMICS drives, Siemens PLC and safety systems, and PROFIBUS/PROFINET networks, designed to identify developing faults, degraded components and network issues before they result in unplanned crane downtime.
Drive system health checks
Inspection of SINAMICS drive line-ups including cooling fans, heatsink temperatures, filters and cabinet conditions. Review of fault and alarm history to identify recurring or intermittent issues, DC link and braking system checks, and verification that drive parameter and project backups are current and match the installed configuration.
PLC system health checks
Review of CPU diagnostic buffers, cycle time and load, I/O module and rack status, and backup battery and memory card condition. Confirmation that the online program matches the archived project, with a current backup taken on each visit.
Safety PLC and safety I/O checks
Diagnostic review of F-CPUs and fail-safe I/O, including passivated channels, discrepancy faults and PROFIsafe communication errors. Functional verification of safety-related inputs such as emergency stops, overspeed and overload protection, and confirmation that the safety program signature matches the approved version.
Profibus and Profinet network diagnostics.
Live analysis of fieldbus health to detect signal degradation, telegram repeats, intermittent node dropouts, termination faults and cabling or connector deterioration, often well before they cause a stoppage. Networks are analysed using industry-standard tools:
CMS fault log review
Analysis of Crane Management System fault and event histories to identify trends, recurring alarms and emerging failure patterns across subsystems.
Reporting
A written report after each visit covering findings, risk-ranked defects and recommended corrective actions, giving your maintenance team a clear basis for planning spares, shutdowns and follow-up work.
Beyond STS Cranes
The same drive, PLC, safety system and network health checks are available for Siemens automation and SINAMICS drive installations in other industrial applications.
